Meet our Administrative Team
RotaCare Bay Area, Inc. currently provides consistent, caring service and support for each of our ten free clinics in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties with 95% volunteer staff. Our solid team brings a foundation of centralized oversight and support in the form of best practices and quality care for all of our clinics. To provide the best patient care possible RotaCare, adheres to the following three major goals:

To support and sustain quality patient care in keeping with our mission to provide free medical care for those who have the greatest need and the least access.

Jatinderpal (JP) Kaur Sahi

Director of Business Administration
Ms. Lopez is responsible for various business and operational aspects of RotaCare Bay Area including but not limited to organizing financial reports, overseeing volunteers, managing payroll, budgets, and guiding internal policies and procedures.

She has spent over 30 years working at the executive level in the areas of leadership and management with a primary focus in finance, insurance, and human resource management within non-profit and private industries. She draws her nonprofit administration expertise from her combined experiences as a fundraising professional with Our Lady of Fatima Villa and the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco. She also draws on her strong business management skills aquired while working as a Stock Broker with Bidwell & Company and Financial Consultant with Wells Fargo Private Banking & Securities.

Ms. Lopez has been with RotaCare Bay Area since 2011. She is a valuable member of the leadership team and supports staff, volunteer and donor efforts to strengthen RotaCare Bay Area's mission.
Virginia Hood-Akers
Quality Assurance Coordinator
Ms. Hood-Akers is responsible for ensuring that RotaCare Bay Area, Inc. adheres to the standards of care, best practices, regulations in quality assurance, keeping policies and procedures updated and adhered to, which enables prevention of adverse events, promoting safety, and infection control.
In addition to her work at RotaCare, Ms. Hood-Akers is a Nurse Case Manager in Occupational Medicine for the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding communities, an Independent Legal Nurse Consultant, consulting nationwide in Medical/Legal matters, and an Independent Sourcer in Executive Search, for companies across the US and abroad.
Prior to her independent work in business as an RN, Ms. Hood-Akers administered care to critically ill and fragile newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, CA, and in Postpartum Units for Mother’s and their well newborns.
Her experience includes Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery practices, Operating Rooms, Dental, Periodontal and Dermatological practices, hospital units in Pediatric, Medical/Surgical, and Critical Care Cardiac Units.
Ms. Hood-Akers’ life-long passion for quality healthcare, enables Rotacare in keeping volunteers, staff and patients safe, maintaining quality assurance, while promoting RotaCare’s Mission of providing free healthcare for the uninsured and under-served in our community.
Ms. Sahi is responsible for providing oversight of clinic operations, development and management support to advance the organization's mission, as well as participating in program and strategic planning, evaluation, and fund development.

Ms. Sahi has over ten years of management experience as a professional in healthcare-related nonprofit organizations. She has worked with community clinics in the East Bay, including Tri-City Health Center, Axis Community Health, and the Center for Elders' Independence. Her area of focus is healthcare operations and compliance.

Ms. Sahi joined RotaCare Bay Area as the Director of Clinic Operations in August 2015, after leaving a position at Safeway, Inc. in Pleasanton, managing the Specialty Pharmacy (Health and Wellness) at the corporate headquarters. She holds an M.S. in Health Care Administration and an MBA in Operations Management.
Ms. Sahi is involved in community health efforts for which she serves on the Board of Community Health Partnership and as a Commissioner on the Alameda County Public Health Commission.
