Patients from near and far can find a helping hand at RotaCare Daly City!

In March 2017, after an over 2 hour drive from the Sacramento area, a married couple in their mid-50’s returned to RotaCare Daly City for a final follow-up visit.  Their first visit was on one rainy Monday evening a few months earlier.  Both were new to Daly City, had uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes and, like many of our patients, they were running low on their prescription medications.

At the end of that first visit, the couple left with prescriptions, orders for lab work, information about healthy eating, and a request to return to the clinic for a review of the lab results.   Although they agreed to return to the clinic for a review of their lab results, the couple shared that they would not be in the Bay Area much longer.  Their daughter, with whom they were staying, was moving to Sacramento.  The cost of living in this area was too high.  So after a quick online search, they were given a list of low-cost and free clinics near their new home.

To our surprise, the couple returned to the clinic even after they moved.  They did not meet the eligibility guidelines for the clinics to which they had been referred and could not afford the out-of-pocket prices for their much needed clinic visits.  Despite the distance, they felt RotaCare Daly City remained the best option for them and continued to access services at the clinic until they eventually figured out a more permanent solution to their healthcare needs.
